Year round installation!

Did you know?

Transite/Asbestos cement roofs became popular in the U.S. in the 1920s and remained popular until the 1960s. Read Below...

The mixture of asbestos fibers and cement together form a hard material that is durable and fire resistant. That mixture can be credited back to Ludwig Hatschek who developed it in the early 1900’s. Cement asbestos roofing is a durable, inexpensive material that was used to cover and protect buildings throughout two-thirds of the 20th century.

In 1907, process equipment was invented that produced rigid sheets from the cement asbestos. These sheets could be pigmented and cut into manageable shapes. They were both less expensive and lighter than slate. They don’t rot or warp like wood and are very fire resistant. Asbestos cement roof shingles became popular in the U.S. in the 1920s and remained popular until the 1960s. They were sold up until the 1980s before they were banned.

The shingles are easily damaged by foot traffic and need to be encapsulated for safety. Our MR Multi-ply® Roof System will seal this roofing product for you. Asbestos is very dangerous and can cause serious health problems. The fibers tend to break very easily and the dust made up of these fibers floats into the air and gets on our clothes and in our lungs. By having Thermal-Tec install the MR Multi-ply® Roof System, you will not only preserve your investment, but will enjoy your peace of mind, worry free roof, for years to come.
